Coniston Firefighters

Coniston Firefighters are responsible for a large geographical area of the southern Lake District (almost 90 square miles), extending from the western shores of Windermere right across to the Coniston Fells. and including the valleys of Langdale, Rusland and Grizedale.  This popular tourist area has many hotels, guest houses and Outdoor Pursuits premises, besides a vast area of forest.
To cope with the narrow roads and lanes, the Coniston team are equipped with a Leyland Daf Compact fire engine, with a full complement of cutting gear, winch and breathing apparatus.

Your Community Firefighter for this area is Graham Belcher. Need a visit? call 41292 and leave a message!!

The Coniston team are justifiably proud of their Fire Station.  They won a local award for the best-kept public building, while the garden is always neat and colourful.  The Fire Services Benevolent Fund receives substantial contributions as a result of their fund-raising activities in the village each year.

Vacancies exist for fit men and women who reside in the area..  Enquiries to Cumbria Fire Service   -  01900 822503

The following services are offered completely free of charge:

  • Where required, supply and fit a smoke detector (with a 10 year power-cell)
  • In homes where smoke detectors are already fitted, demonstrate the routine cleaning of the detector, essential for ensuring reliability.
  • Talk through a fire plan of how to escape from your home should you have a fire.
  • Carry out a safety check in the home, pointing out especially dangerous practices and equipment.

If your premises are in the Coniston area and you  would like your Community Firefighter to visit  -  just call Coniston Fire Station on 015394   41292   and leave a message.
