| | Mountain Rescue Team
| Mountain rescue teams are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A team consists solely of local volunteers, all of whom undergo extensive training. A team is entirely funded by public donation. The Coniston team was founded in 1947 and was the first of its kind in Britain. DIAL 999 ask for mountain rescue | | | First Responders | Coniston First Responders are a small group of committed volunteers who live in the village and offer a ‘First Response’ to 999 calls within Coniston. Since May 2011 we have responded to 15 separate incidents to locals and visitors alike. We are called out in all weathers and at all times. Our current average response time is 2 minutes! Once on site the First Responder will assess the situation and provide the necessary support required. Sometimes that could mean just being there, comforting and calming a situation and at other times we could be responding to a full cardiac arrest where CPR and shock treatment is necessary. |
All Responders are CRB checked and undergo a full 10 week training programme with assessments carried out by the North West Ambulance Service. The First Responders rely on donations to cover the cost of hiring a room for meetings, training and assessments. In addition and very crucial to our service, funding is required to cover the monthly fees for pagers, which alert the Responders to an incident. Please can you help? Please consider making a small donation today to help the Coniston First Responders continue to help others. All gifts are very much appreciated and gratefully received.
