Anniversary Walks along the Cumbria Way

Walks Programme listing all their walks in Cumbria. Many are in the Coniston area. Some are picked out on the Calendar.


The Ramblers promotes walking in the countryside, protects footpaths and other places over which the public has rights of way or access on foot, and defends the beauty of the countryside.

The Ramblers in the UK (England, Scotland, and Wales) has about 130,000 members in more than 50 Areas and over 450 local groups.

Lake District Area covers the whole of Cumbria and the northern part of Lancashire, including the Lake District National Park and a small part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Lake District Area has over 2000 members in seven local groups based on Carlisle, Furness, Grange-over-Sands, Kendal, Lancaster, Penrith, and West Cumbria. An eighth group, Summitt Good, caters for people in their 20s and 30s throughout the area.

Affiliated clubs 20 walking clubs are affiliated to Lake District Area.

Walks Lake District Area organises more than 750 walks each year for its members. Visitors who are interested in the Ramblers are welcome to join us on these walks.

Lake District Area Ramblers

The year 2010 is the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Ramblers Association. To mark this occasion, Lake District Area is offering a series of walks along sections of the Cumbria Way and some walks in Coniston area.
